About the event

Join your neighbours and Community Builder Geraldine to learn how to weave a traditional cedar bark rattle with Kwantlen elder Hazel Gludo!

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Hazel Gludo will lead us in creating a woven cedar rattle using the traditional methods she has learned at the hands of master Stó:lō/Skowkale weaver, Wendy Richie. Each workshop participant will create their own cedar rattle in this four hour workshop. Hazel will share her knowledge of cultural weaving and harvesting, as practiced by her ancestors on this land. This is the sixth workshop in a series of 7 in partnership with the stɑl ̓əw̓ Arts and Cultural Society, leading up to the 1st Annual stɑl ̓əw̓ Pow Wow in September 2022. This workshop is free and open to all Willoughby residents, or anyone with this link. All materials will be provided.
